The MED plant in Tianjin is being done in 2 stages. The first 4 X 25,000 m3/day unit was commissioned in 2009, and second unit of the same size is now under construction. This project required extensive logistical planning because of its size and location. The commissioned part of the plant is delivering GORs (water to steam ratio) on the order of 13 and 14.
One of the largest private refineries in India needed 159,000 m3/day product water and decided on an MED solution. It was commissioned in on the West Coast in the state of Gujarat, India in 2007. A unique S-shaped design was used to accommodate the plant in limited foot-print.
The Sarlux group in Sardegna, Italy chose a Mechanical Vapor Compression system to handle their need for 17,280 m3/day of product water. The plant was commissioned in 1999 and is the largest MVC installation in the world to date.
Built for JGC Corporation, Japan, this EPC project was commissioned in 1999, and will undergo refurbishing and an upgrade by AquaSwiss in 2012.
The WDD Plant in Larnaca, Cyprus is built to deliver 64,000 m3/day of quality drinking water using a 7-train SWRO solution. This project was completed in 2006 and the major source of supply of water to the city of Larnaca. It was done on a Build Own Operate and Transfer business model.
Multi Effect Distillation (MED) was chosen for the best solution to deliver 16,900 m3/day of quality product water by this plant in India. It was commissioned in 1998, and running efficiently. A second larger plant with the capacity of 3 X 24,000 m3/day was ordered and in the final stages of delivery and execution.
The 140,000 m3/day SWRO plant is under construction for Sino Iron, Pty. The plant is located in Cape Preston and will include extensive pre-treatment, Lamella clarifier, DAF, and MM.
